New Jersey Appraisal New License Requirements

There are four levels of licensure for real estate appraisers in the state of New Jersey:

  • Trainee Appraiser
  • Licensed Residential Real Property Appraiser
  • Certified Residential Real Property Appraiser
  • Certified General Real Property Appraiser

In order to being as a New Jersey real estate appraiser, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED
  • Complete education and experience requirements
  • Take the state exam (not required for trainees)
  • Turn in application and pay fees

New Jersey Appraisal Continuing Education Requirements

New Jersey appraisers must renew their licenses every two years. To qualify for renewal, licensees must complete 28 hours of continuing education (including the 7 hour USPAP Update course). Trainees that are renewing for the third or fourth year must complete 14 hours of continuing education.
