Oregon Appraisal New License Requirements
There are four levels of real estate appraiser licensure in the state of Oregon:
- Appraiser Assistant
- Licensed Appraiser
- Certified Residential Appraiser
- Certified General Appraiser
The licensure process includes the following requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED
- Pass the state exam (licensed and certified levels)
- Submit application and pay associated fees
To help you get a jumpstart on your career, OnCourse Learning has everything you need to fulfill the appraiser assistant requirements. The Oregon 75-Hour Real Estate Appraiser Trainee Package includes three mandatory courses - Basic Appraisal Principles, Basic Appraisal Procedures, and the 15 Hour National USPAP Course - plus a USPAP Manual eBook. Covering the foundational knowledge required to begin a career in appraisals, this course package is essential for every real estate appraiser. User-friendly and self-paced, this is an online course that was designed to be taken whenever is most convenient. After completing the mandatory coursework, appraiser assistants must attend a 4 hour Board approved supervised Appraiser Assistant Training Course and pass the course final exam.
Oregon Appraisal Upgrade License Requirements
After achieving appraiser assistant status, you will need 75 additional education credit hours plus 2000 hours of experience to be completed in no less than 12 months. While the experience must be done on your own, OnCourse Learning is here to assist you with the educational requirements. If you would like to move on to the certified levels, you will need to meet the following higher education requirements:
- For Certified Residential level: A minimum of an Associate’s Degree OR 21 college semester hours in specific subject matters
- For Certified General level: A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree OR 30 college semester hours in specific subject matters
The certified residential level requires an additional 50 hours of education plus 2500 hours of experience to be completed within no less than 24 months. For the certified general level, you need and additional 100 hours of education plus 3000 hours of experience (including 1500 hours of nonresidential appraisals) to be completed within no less than 30 months.
Oregon Appraisal Continuing Education Requirements
All Oregon real estate appraisal licenses expire biennially. To qualify for renewal, licensees must complete 28 hours of continuing education (including the 7 hour USPAP Update).
