Virginia Home Inspection New License Requirements
Home inspection careers are regulated in the state of Virginia and all practicing home inspectors must be licensed. In order to obtain a home inspection license, applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Complete 35 hours of education and 50 inspections under the direct supervision of a licensed home inspector OR 70 hours of education and 25 supervised inspections. Note: only half of all qualifying education can be completed online; see a list of approved providers here
- Pass the NHIE Exam
- Obtain $250,000 of general liability insurance
- Submit application with $80 fee
